Past Experiments and Miscellaneous Projects

“I’m always thinking about creating. My future starts when I wake up every morning… Every day I find something creative to do with my life.”- Miles Davis

Ever since I started blogging about my mixed media art 4 ½ years ago, I’ve grown so much in confidence, in knowledge, in experience.  I’ve made a lot of mistakes and done some stupid things.  I’ve worked hard and been very slow to figure a lot of things out.  But Creation is never easy.  Creating requires patience, persistence, and the willingness to overcome fear.  Each of these pieces is special to me for these very reasons- every piece I finish pushes me through another barrier of fear that would otherwise hold me back.

Quilling Art

I don’t know of any other artist that uses quilling techniques to create abstract art in the same way that I do.  I believe it makes my work especially unique.  I use these quilling elements to add dimension, character, and an extra layer of meaning to all my pieces. They are usually adhered last and because of their knobbly, three dimensional character, I use them to represent corruption or sin in many of my pieces.   However, they can also bring to mind more positive ideas. When combined with the right colors and elements, these quilling pieces can bring to mind growth, progress, and the elements of good character.
