Let’s Scrap Sketches Design Team layout 8-15-15

Let's scrap sketches design team page

It’s so hard to think that the summer is winding down… pretty soon the sun will be setting at 5 o’clock and everyone will be putting out their Halloween decorations. But before we say goodbye to the summer completely, come play with the Let’s Scrap Sketches team and show us your interpretations of this latest sketch by linking them to the homepage.

I used the left layout in this 2 page sketch as my inspiration.  Instead of squares, I drew some lines in india ink, highlighted a few them in red and blue, and added some lines of scriptures and white stars.

The pictures in this layout are from the WWII memorial in Washington D.C.  I loved this plaque and the remembrance of all those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their families and their country.  I’ve been learning a lot about WWII recently, and when I found these pictures I couldn’t resist using them in my layout.

design team layout for Let's Scrap Sketches July 1, 2015

The beginning of July means another layout for Let’s Scrap Sketches!  Can you believe the year is already half over?  I try not to think about it too hard…  so here’s the sketch I based this layout on.

I have to admit, I really struggled with this layout, mostly because I was experimenting with some different combinations and things didn’t quite turn out the way I wanted.  I used a lot of modeling paste over stencils to add more interest, since my layout doesn’t have an overabundance of layers or embellishments.  I added a few sprays of walnut ink to color the paste a bit.  Since I was using the paste and stencils to form gears, I thought it would be cool to dirty them up a little bit- add a little black to make the gears look a little dirty… plus, I was just curious if embossing powder would work on top of modeling paste.  It does… sort of.  The paper really buckled and the paste bubbled up- not necessarily bad things, but I know now that I need something to help prime the paper first if I’m going to do something like that- probably some clear gesso.

Design Team Layout for Let’s Scrap Sketches- 6-15-15

Design team sketch for June 15thIt’s the middle of the month again (seriously?!), and that means another sketch challenge for Let’s Scrap Sketches!  I’m going to be honest, this was not my favorite sketch.  I really struggled at first to find a way to make it work, but as I kept at it, this design team layout actually turned into one of my favorites so far.

I’m realizing, too, that my husband has kind of taken over all my photos-  there aren’t too many I have that don’t have him in them, even less that are something other than the two of us, so my apologies if you are getting sick of layouts with just us… what can I say?  He’s kind of my whole world…  🙂

Let’s Scrap June 1st Sketch

scrapbook layout with chipboard elements

Time for another sketch!  I loved the stars in this one.  They are perfect for the Christmasy theme I wanted to do, and I love the rustic charm they add to my page, especially combined with the selfies my niece and nephew and I took together.  The brown paper, gold splatters, and spots of red ink gives the layout a finished look.

June 1st Let's Scrap SketchA big thanks to UmWow Studios for their delicious chipboard confetti.  I absolutely love every kind they offer!  (And it totally smells, good, too.  Is that weird?  For me to love the smell of chipboard?  Not sure…)

I had a lot of fun creating the layout for this week.  I used the same paper line as last time- Prima’s Archivist collection.  It works so perfectly for these types of photos and memories.

scrapbook layout for Let's Scrap sketches design teamI used several layers of various papers under the photos, including vellum and walnut ink stained paper that I stamped with versamark.  Some Tim Holtz tissue tape, some modeling paste over a clock stencil, and a few metal embellishments, and I couldn’t be happier with how this layout looks.

Let's scrap April 1st sketchAnother sketch to show!  Yay!!

My take on the sketch is only one scrapbook page, but it really put itself together. Between the sketch guiding my hand, and the fact that this paper and most of the embellishments had just come in my Prima order from scrapbooking.com, this layout was a no brainer.  Just look at this paper!  So yummy!  I absolutely love everything about Prima’s Archivist line.  I am obsessed with everything about it.
