Let’s Scrap Sketches Design Team layout 8-15-15

Let's scrap sketches design team page

It’s so hard to think that the summer is winding down… pretty soon the sun will be setting at 5 o’clock and everyone will be putting out their Halloween decorations. But before we say goodbye to the summer completely, come play with the Let’s Scrap Sketches team and show us your interpretations of this latest sketch by linking them to the homepage.

I used the left layout in this 2 page sketch as my inspiration.  Instead of squares, I drew some lines in india ink, highlighted a few them in red and blue, and added some lines of scriptures and white stars.

The pictures in this layout are from the WWII memorial in Washington D.C.  I loved this plaque and the remembrance of all those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their families and their country.  I’ve been learning a lot about WWII recently, and when I found these pictures I couldn’t resist using them in my layout.

I don’t usually post on Saturdays, but it’s Aug. 1st, and that means I have a let’s scrap sketches layout to share with you.  It also means I need to call my sister and wish her a happy birthday.  Happy Birthday Adriana!

I love putting my own spin on these sketches, and this one was so fun!

  • I started adding some tissue wrap to the right side where I knew my photos were going.
  • My new grunge stencil was perfect for adding a bit of texture paste.
  • I layered together lots of paper, most of it from Prima’s Archivist line, and stapled them all together.
  • Red glimmer mist was a great addition onto just the layered paper, not the background itself.  I used purple mist on just the background, and I really like the contrast and how the colors compliment each other instead of blending together.
  • Of course this sketch wouldn’t be complete without some hexagons and chipboard. Adding them to the layout to form a sort of line from the top to the bottom of the page to highlight the photos really took this layout to the next level.

I’m so happy with how this layout turned out, and the best part is it only took me an hour to create.  My layouts normally take way longer than that, mostly because I hem and haw way to much about which element goes where.let's scrap sketches layout close up hexagon chipboard

The rest of the design team has come up with some amazing layouts, too.  So, come see what they’ve done and play with us!!  Check out the blog and our awesome sponsor, Eureka Stamps, and show us how you would use this sketch.

Let’s Scrap Sketches Scrapbooking Design Team layout- 7-15-15

scrapbooking design team 2 page layout by Anjuli Johnson

Time for another Design Team layout!  Boy, the time sure seems to fly when you have layouts to work on… 🙂

scrapbooking design team sketch for 7-15-15

I feel like I took a lot of liberties with this sketch.  The placement of pictures, especially.  I had so much fun doing the backgrounds for these pages that I almost got too carried away- but the sketch did keep me grounded, and I really like the circles along the bottom.

I used texture paste, stencils, stamps and embossing powder to add interest and texture to the backgrounds.  Walnut ink and some green tattered angels shimmer mist really added depth of color and made the pages really come together, since I had used different paper for each page.  These pages have such a natural, masculine feel.  Perfect!

Our sponsor for this week is Lacy Sunshine Stamps, and the prize for playing along with us and winning the sketch challenge is 3 digi stamps from Lacy’s handdrawn collection of digital stamps!  She has some really beautiful and fun designs.  So get scrappin and show us your layouts!!  Post them on the Let’s Scrap Sketches blog, and don’t forget to check out what the rest of our scrapbooking Design Team has done, especially if you need some extra inspiration.  There will be something there to spark your creativity!

Design Team Layout for Let’s Scrap Sketches- 6-15-15

Design team sketch for June 15thIt’s the middle of the month again (seriously?!), and that means another sketch challenge for Let’s Scrap Sketches!  I’m going to be honest, this was not my favorite sketch.  I really struggled at first to find a way to make it work, but as I kept at it, this design team layout actually turned into one of my favorites so far.

I’m realizing, too, that my husband has kind of taken over all my photos-  there aren’t too many I have that don’t have him in them, even less that are something other than the two of us, so my apologies if you are getting sick of layouts with just us… what can I say?  He’s kind of my whole world…  🙂

Let’s Scrap June 1st Sketch

scrapbook layout with chipboard elements

Time for another sketch!  I loved the stars in this one.  They are perfect for the Christmasy theme I wanted to do, and I love the rustic charm they add to my page, especially combined with the selfies my niece and nephew and I took together.  The brown paper, gold splatters, and spots of red ink gives the layout a finished look.

June 1st Let's Scrap SketchA big thanks to UmWow Studios for their delicious chipboard confetti.  I absolutely love every kind they offer!  (And it totally smells, good, too.  Is that weird?  For me to love the smell of chipboard?  Not sure…)

May 1st Let’s Scrap layout

mixed media scrapbooking layout

Boy, what a week!  I’m sorry I’ve kept you all hanging with my layout- visiting my sister and getting sick made being on top of things a bit out of my reach this week, so I apologize.  But here is my layout for May 1st.

I loved the sketch, especially the honeycomb hexagons.  The image of the girl I used was a Digital stamp from Bugaboo Digi Stamps.  She is lightly colored with ink and adds a lovely touch of whimsy in this layout for my sister.

So, what do you think?  And while you’re thinking and planning your own scrap layout, head over to the blog and see all the awesome contests and prizes we’ve got going on with our sponsors.  May is gonna be awesome!!
