Well perhaps not quite yet, thanks goodness.  I’m ready for a lot of fun in the sun this summer.  However, after spending the last couple weeks reading The Game of Thrones series (I haven’t finished it yet- no spoilers!!) I couldn’t think of a more fitting name for this piece.
Originally this was going to be the background, the set for a collage or the foundation for more elements, but the more I looked at what I had created, the more it just seemed… complete.
I created this look with acrylics, and lots of water.  I sprayed down the canvas with a little water (a spray bottle has become one of my new favorite tools) and then I brushed on two colors of blue, varying the density of the color by how much water I mixed with it.  I tipped my canvas and let the colors run a bit, then I added splatters of white.  I love how the white bled through the blue, creating a frosty look.
It always takes forever to dry when I use so much water, but the results are always wonderful and unexpected.
As a finishing touch I added a little silver to bring winter to mind even more.
I feel cold just looking at these pictures.
