I feel like I’ve been artistically productive for the first time in at least a couple weeks last night, and it was a great feeling.  I used some new supplies, old and new techniques, and I had enough projects going to keep me consistently busy.  One of the pieces I started was quite large, but these mini canvases are what I’m highlighting this morning.
I’ve been running out of my store of Delta’s Texture Magic paint.  I love it’s 3D nature and the different colors that I have, but I can’t find any stores that sell it.  Amazon has it, and a couple places online, but everyone wants 5 dollars for a tube, and they only have the color white.  A little frustrating- so I was prompted to buy a big old tub of modeling paste with a coupon instead.  (Gotta love those AC Moore coupons!)
It smells a little like getting a perm, but I really liked the smooth texture and it was much easier to spread and shape than the thick delta paste.  I mixed it with a little acrylic paint and once I added my paper pieces, used my application knife to add some points to the paste to make them look like choppy waves.

This one was inspired by Shauna Braum, who won the giveaway I did a couple months ago.  She really loved the black and gold pieces I had done, and mentioned using dark blue and gold as well.  The reason I’m proud of this piece is because I had the wrong color blue for my splatters, and so I started mixing and somehow came up with the exact color I needed for this piece.  That never happens!!  But it was so nice to see it work for this.  Shauna was right… the blue and gold work so well together.  Of course, I should have already known that, being a West Virginia girl.  :)
