I’ve been working on a lot of flat canvas boards recently, putting together a series of framed 8*10 pieces that I’ll have displayed for my next show the first Friday in February. It’s been a great opportunity for me to get creative with my color combos and abstract shapes and design. The next few I’ll have to show are pretty different.
This one, however, is one of my favorite color combos. Dark, rich, and vibrant, purple and black are so moody together. It’s difficult to tell exactly where the black ends and the purple begins. I love it. :)
I’m not sure what kind of inky mass is growing up from the sludge… it’s branching out and spreading upward, you can feel the movement in the piece, as if there’s only a certain amount of time before then entire thing is taken over by this spreading mass of darkness and beauty.
These pieces are so fun to work on. Watching the colors blend together, seeing how the splatters run and mix, even watching with surprise as my own hands move things in certain directions to create the final effects. I never quite know what to expect, and I love it.
