This piece feels really different from any of my others. Perhaps it’s the color, or maybe it’s the design. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it is different. I called this piece New Life because it reminds me of clusters of new life in the spring time. I used the blue to represent the sky and the green to represent the earth, since both are needed to create life.
I added layers of paint when the clay was still wet, and it creates a bleeding effect as the paint is carried by the water. The canvas was dry when I added the splatters, but a little spritz from my water bottle and I got some similar effects on the canvas.
I usually frame my 8*10 canvas boards in a black frame, but I think I’ll use a white one for this piece.
