The beginning of July means another layout for Let’s Scrap Sketches! Can you believe the year is already half over? I try not to think about it too hard… so here’s the sketch I based this layout on.
I have to admit, I really struggled with this layout, mostly because I was experimenting with some different combinations and things didn’t quite turn out the way I wanted. I used a lot of modeling paste over stencils to add more interest, since my layout doesn’t have an overabundance of layers or embellishments. I added a few sprays of walnut ink to color the paste a bit. Since I was using the paste and stencils to form gears, I thought it would be cool to dirty them up a little bit- add a little black to make the gears look a little dirty… plus, I was just curious if embossing powder would work on top of modeling paste. It does… sort of. The paper really buckled and the paste bubbled up- not necessarily bad things, but I know now that I need something to help prime the paper first if I’m going to do something like that- probably some clear gesso.
If you have a few minutes, head on over to the Let’s Scrap Sketches blog– I have to say, I’m really excited about the prizes for this sketch. Stampendous is giving away a set of stamps to the winner! I love their brand- they’ve got some great stamp collections, so create your layout and upload it to the blog for a chance to win!
Such a beautifully stunning page. I love your creations.
